Locate Great Expired Domains

Top 3 FAQs

Services we provide include:

Question #1: Why do you provide these Services?

Three reasons:
1) We always look for domains ourselves, used similar code & loved it.
2) We used to be novices ourselves. Services like this helped us become experts in the field. Maybe you don't become an expert, but we get to help you the way others helped us.
3) We won't lie, to make a few extra dollars.

Question #2: If you were new to this, what would you do?

This depends on what your objective is. I'd say become a 'domain broker' so to speak. Search for great domains, buy them, hold them for 60 days, then sell them at eBay Domains or at Yahoo Auctions: Domains. If you have a site today, look for other sites in your category expiring, buy them and then forward that domain to your existing domain (new and almost free traffic). If you want a site, this enables you to find a valuable domain to start you business with.

Question #3: How do I register a domain?

Many details on this in the Help section, however, it's easier than you think. Create an account with GoDaddy.com or 1and1.com and for $4 to $6 you can register any domain you want. If you want to publish more than 1 site, make sure any hosting account you set-up allows for that. More details in the Help section.

No, you wouldn't.

Similarly, why would anyone pass on the chance to register ShopTarHeels.com when surely someone would love to purchase that from you to use as an online store to retail U. of North Carolina Tar Heel merchandise. Yes, that domain was located through this service.

How long do I own a domain that I register?
You can choose to 'register' it for 1 year, 2 years, or more. Plus, you retain the rights to continue to renew this domain in the future. If you register it to use as a store, you will want register it for 2 yrs or more. If you want to resell it, register it for 1 year. If it doesn't sell within the year, or you want to hold it longer, just renew it each year.

Can someone just 'Take' my domain from me?
It used to be possible, and actually still is, but it's easy to protect it. Most domain registrars allow you to 'Lock' your domain, meaning it can not be transferred without your signature. Make sure your registrar has that feature, it's usually free.

Why do I need to wait 60 days before I can ReSell the domain I buy?
Those are the rules of the internet my friend, as defined by the
Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.

How do I transfer a domain I want to sell to the new owner?
VERY IMPORTANT: Before you sell the domain, verify 'Exactly How' you complete the transfer. You will want to research this with company you have the domain registered with. It is usually straight forward. They pay you for the domain. You change the 'Reg-C' info to the new owners name, then 'Un-Lock' the domain. The new owner creates an account with a registrar and tranfers it to their account. You may need to sign a release with your previous registrar. We say verify these steps prior because you do not want the hassle of a buyer calling you a bad seller on eBay or Yahoo.

What else do I need to know about registering domains?
It really is easier than people think, register 1 or 2 and you will see. A real small investment, can bring you nice rewards. Don't expect to sell a domain for $100,000, but if you can sell a dozen for $100, you can thank us later.

What else can I do to make money with domains?
Besides reselling domains, it is very popular to buy a domain and put up a few pages that have ads that click through to other sites. You can use Google Ad Words. CommissionJunction ads (www.cj.com) or sell banners to people in that field. MyStogies.com is a good example.

If I have a day job and don't want people to see I own a specific domain, is there anyway to block the 'WhoIs' functionality?
Yes you can, but not all registrars allow this. It is a premium service (usually $8 to $15 a year) offered by registrars and is called a 'Private Listing', similar to using 'Caller ID Block' for your phone. When a user does a look-up, it only displays the information of the company you registered the domain through.

Are there any restrictions on registering 'Adult' oriented domains?
A very popular question to which the answer is Yes there are!. You will find that some services (like 1and1.com) will not allow you to register 'Adult' domains with them. Additionally, some hosting providers will not allow you to host 'Adult' sites with them, due to the traffic demands. Be sure to research this first, if you intend to register these for resale or your own use.
